We currently have an opportunity for an experienced structural engineer to join our Indianapolis, IN office as Bridge Team Leader. The bridge team provides inspection, assessment, design, and construction phase services for INDOT and LPA clients that own and maintain bridges and other transportation structures throughout Indiana. This position manages staff and projects and assists with business development efforts for the team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and project management for bridge engineering projects and is accountable for team project performance and deliverables.
- Collaborates on project pursuits with BD staff and develops relationships with existing clients and prospects.
- Leads or assists with scope and fee negotiations and any contract amendments as needed.
- Ensures QC/QA processes are implemented and followed for all team projects.
- Actively supports the development of assigned staff and works to sustain and grow the team’s technical capabilities.
- Assists the Area Manager with billing, monitoring project performance, workload forecasting, staff utilization and other administrative tasks.
- Active participation with pertinent technical and trade associations.
- Maintains knowledge and education on technological innovations and regulatory changes that impact the transportation sector within Indiana.
Position Requirements
- B.S. degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and IN PE license are required. SE license is desirable.
- 10+ years of experience with bridge design and project management.
- Experience with INDOT’s design manual and application of NBIS standards and procedures is required.
- Must be knowledgeable with the capabilities and use of a variety of structural design and modeling software including AutoCAD, MicroStation, Merlin Dash, Consys 2000, Conspan and Staad/Pro.
- Demonstrated project management experience including development of scope, schedule, and budget with accountability for project financial performance. Previous experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint is desirable.
- Experience working with clients in the Indiana public sector (state and county agencies).
- Ability to effectively pursue new projects and develop/maintain relationships with prospects and existing clients.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to conduct effective client presentations and prepare written reports.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to client and project sites as needed.
