We are currently seeking an experienced professional to serve as Business Developer for our firm in Kentucky. Reporting to the EVP of Marketing & Business Development, this position may be home office based but will require collaboration with technical staff in our Lexington, KY office. Responsibilities will include marketing our engineering project development, design, and construction phase services to local and state government entities in Kentucky.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for identifying public sector infrastructure projects/opportunities at the state, county, or municipal level throughout Kentucky.
- Develops and maintains relationships at the community or agency level, identifies influencers and decision makers and develops strategies to turn proposals into projects.
- Collaborates with technical staff to assist with project scope and pursuit strategies.
- Creates awareness about all the company’s services and technical capabilities with clients and prospects.
- Maintains a deep understanding of the state and local political process and financing for infrastructure improvements.
- Sells project work to achieve annual sales goals.
Position Requirements
- BA/BS degree in degree in business, marketing, engineering or a related field is desired. High school diploma or GED is required.
- 5+ years of experience with public infrastructure projects in one or more of the following areas is desired: local community development, state agency or professional services firm.
- Knowledgeable in one or more of the following engineering disciplines; civil, environmental, transportation, structural, architectural, mechanical, or electrical.
- Understanding of the community development processes and funding sources (grant applications, bonding, etc.).
- Proven ability to understand client/community needs and position the firm’s services in a way that maximizes value for all stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to make public presentations and develop proposals.
- Ability to travel weekly throughout the assigned territory and work extended hours as needed. Valid driver’s license and vehicle are required.
