We currently have an opportunity for an experienced transportation engineer to join our Indianapolis, IN office. The ideal candidate will oversee projects located throughout the State of Indiana, work within both in-person and virtual teams, understand and meet client needs and expectations, and manage several projects with multiple moving parts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manages or performs development of plans and designs for roadway improvement projects for INDOT and LPA clients throughout Indiana; manages workflow and delegates tasks to Engineers and Technicians.
- Interacts with clients to understand project goals and respond to client’s needs on projects.
- Directs Clark Dietz’s compliance with scope, schedule, and budget on projects assigned to them.
- Prepares monthly billing directions for their projects.
- Oversees or performs design calculations and quality control of transportation projects including Roadway Geometrics, Hydraulics, Maintenance of Traffic, and Quantity Calculations
- Calculates or reviews quantity calculations for roadway projects. Develops or reviews construction cost estimates.
- Implements quality assurance and control procedures to ensure quality in all deliverables.
- Assists in development of proposals and project approach. Assists in development of scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects.
Position Requirements
- B.S Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation projects and Indiana PE are required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience as a project engineer is required.
- Experience delegating tasks to Engineers and Technicians
- Roadway design experience for INDOT and/or LPA projects is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the INDOT Design Manual, INDOT Standards, INDOT project development process, permitting and environmental requirements are preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface with clients and participate in public meetings.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work as part of a team across multiple offices.
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks on time and within budget while delivering high value to our clients.
